Norwood Concert Committee outlines winter series, thanks local sponsors

The Norwood Concerts Committee presented its winter concert series to the Board of Selectmen on Jan. 13, announcing four Sunday performances at Norwood High School scheduled from Jan. 25 through Feb. 15, each from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Dave Tuttle, a member of the committee, said the Sheebop Swing Orchestra will open the series Jan. 25, followed by the Roy Scott Big Band on Feb. 1, Dan Gable and his orchestra on Feb. 8 and the Bare Bones Big Band on Feb. 15. All concerts are indoors; the committee said it will post cancellations on town social media and issue reverse 9-1-1 notifications if severe weather forces cancellation.

Paul Leesi, a committee member, and others thanked a long list of local sponsors who underwrite the program and noted the Norwood Record’s owner, Jeff Sullivan, prints the program at no cost and inserts it into the paper. The committee also said it would continue to make recordings available through Norwood Community Media for residents who cannot attend in person.

The board received the report and expressed appreciation for the volunteers and sponsors that make the concerts possible. No formal action was required.
