Board approves nominations, clubs, routes, ESI preconstruction contract and surplus equipment; moves several policies to additional readings

The Middleton School District board concluded the meeting with a series of routine action votes and motions that the board approved by voice vote.

Elections and nominations: trustees elected Pam Weidner as chair and Jake Gancy as vice chair by voice vote. The board then approved committee representation assignments (legislative representatives Jake and Cindy; curriculum Cindy; safety Jay; teacher negotiations S2; construction Derek and Jay). Trustees nominated and confirmed Alicia Grama as treasurer and Gina Corrigan as board clerk.

Consent and approvals: the board approved the consent agenda (personnel report, monthly financials, out-of-state overnight travel, food service, code of conduct). The board approved high-school course requests, three new suggested clubs (Voices for Valkyries, JustServe club and another club), the middle-school drama club, and the district’s proposed bus routes after a transportation presentation.

Contracts and surplus: trustees approved the ESI preconstruction contract for the new elementary school and declared two unused softball pitching machines surplus (estimated roughly $1,000 each). The board then moved policy 23-20 (health enhancement education and related parental permission forms) and policy 35-25 (immunization) into a second reading and moved graduation requirement procedures to a third reading. Finally, Trustee S4 moved and the board voted to enter executive session citing a statutory provision for personnel complaints or dismissal (transcript citation phrasing: 'section 24 22 0 6 1 b, Idaho code').
