Clearfield County commissioners approve about $7.64 million in payments, confirm personnel changes and appoint Christy Brown

Clearfield County commissioners on Jan. 13 authorized payment of county bills totaling about $7,635,367.71 and approved several personnel changes, including one retirement and three separations, and appointed Christy Brown to the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Board of Directors.

The action on payments followed Controller Edwards’ presentation (as announced by the presiding speaker) and a line-by-line readout of fund totals by a staff member. The staff member reported the general fund amount as $6,984,903.70, Hazmat $758.39, CDBG $2,299.25, Domestic Relations $7,255.86, and CYS $620,365.24, for a stated total of $7,635,367.71. The staff member added, "Obviously, we paid GEO on that." The board then voted to pay the bills as presented; the motion carried.

The commissioners also reviewed personnel items submitted for approval. According to the list presented by the presiding speaker, the personnel actions included:
- a retirement from telecommunications operator to 9-1-1 effective Jan. 7, 2026;
- a separation from a telecommunicator position at the 9-1-1 center effective Jan. 8, 2026;
- a separation of a caseworker in Children and Youth Services (CYS) effective Jan. 12, 2026; and
- a separation of a part-time secretary in the magisterial district judge Nevling's office effective Jan. 28, 2026.
The board voted to accept the personnel changes as presented.

Under new business, Speaker 1 said, "I would like to recommend Christy Brown," as the appointment to the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Board; Speaker 2 offered a second. The appointment was approved. Later in the meeting Speaker 3 noted that a typographical error had appeared in the record and clarified there was no additional vacancy to announce.

Other routine business: the board approved minutes from the previous meeting, adjourned the salary board when no business was presented, and adjourned the commissioners' meeting. No public comments were offered during the public comment period.
