Cabarrus board recognizes students and staff in January awards program

At its Jan. 12 meeting the Cabarrus County Board of Education celebrated a series of recognitions, highlighting student achievement, exemplary teachers and support staff.

Phil Furr presented the Impact Through Education Awards for R. Brown McAllister STEM Elementary and Cabarrus Virtual Academy, thanking Equitable for 16 years of sponsorship and Concord Trophy Center for plaques. The board also announced winners of the district Holiday eCard contest and named Jennifer D'Alessandro as Hillbisch Ford Teacher of the Month for January. Dr. Jonathan Bowers and Amber Diggins presented the Everyday Hero Award to Faith Jones, a Kids Plus site coordinator at Pitt School Road Elementary, and Erin Banks recognized the district's school psychologist of the year (Mimi Pages).

Board Chair Rob Walter and Deputy Superintendent John LeGrand acknowledged the awardees and thanked community partners and sponsors. The recognitions were ceremonial and did not require board action beyond presentation.
