Nonprofit ‘His Little Feet’ highlights 12 years of serving children, seeks local partnerships

Sonia Kent, board president of His Little Feet, told the council the 12‑year-old nonprofit provides brand‑new shoes, socks and school supplies to children experiencing homelessness, neglect or poverty across Greater Long Beach, Riverside and Orange counties.

Kent said the organization has distributed 26,866 pairs of shoes, 63,000 pairs of socks and 3,100 backpacks over 12 years while logging thousands of volunteer hours. She described programs for sponsorship (the "Sole Club" at $45 per month), internship opportunities for Canyon Lake youth, and outreach/committee participation to help identify local families in need.

The council and chamber leaders encouraged coordination with the city clerk and local schools to publicize events and internship opportunities. Kent said the nonprofit is not asking for a direct city financial grant at the meeting but rather seeking partnership and volunteer support.

The presentation included photos and testimonials from recent outreach events; Kent asked residents to follow the organization online at hislitfeet.org.
