During the meeting the Polk County Board of Supervisors approved a slate of routine items by roll call: retail alcohol license renewals and ownership updates, petitions suspending taxes and special assessments for listed parcels, final plat approval for Skunk River Outlook Plat 1, contract amendments for engineering and stream restoration, a Department of Transportation agreement for a US 69/Northeast 126th Avenue roundabout, a weatherization award of $15,072.25, and amendments to conservation and air quality agreements. The board also approved forbearance and settlement resolutions, a one-year extension for a workers’ compensation review agreement, and several appointments (some deferred).
Community development grant awards were approved for the Alano Society, which spoke to the board earlier about facility repairs and long-term community services, and for Broadlawn Medical Center Foundation. The board approved community sponsorship awards and multiple administrative service agreements including a student service agreement with Des Moines University and medical director services for Polk County Health Department.
Staff noted the Polk County Veteran Affairs second-quarter report and announced the board will convene as a canvassing board on future dates to canvass special election results for West Des Moines and Mitchellville.
Next steps: awarded grants and contracts will move to implementation by the relevant county departments and nonprofit awardees; staff will monitor reporting requirements and bring any deferred appointments back to a future meeting.
