Board approves Workforce Connections partnership to colocate services at adult‑education campuses

The Clark County School District Board approved Jan. 8 an agreement to allow Workforce Connections staff to work on CCSD adult‑education campuses, bringing employability services and referral resources directly to students at the district’s adult education sites.

Associate Superintendent Kevin McPartland and Ryan Lewis, principal over adult education programming, said the arrangement would give workforce staff access to workspace inside college and career centers so adult students do not have to travel to off‑site locations to receive services. Staff emphasized there is no cost to the district for the partnership and that the goal is to increase the fill rate of referrals and expand employment and training opportunities for adult‑education students.

Trustees asked about age and consent; staff said adult education serves some 16‑ and 17‑year‑olds and that parental consent will be required for minors to receive services on campus. Principal Lewis described expected offerings — career exploration tools, hands‑on labs, internship coordination and connections to employers — and said the partnership intends to close a referral gap caused by transportation and logistical barriers.

Trustees supported the agreement and the board voted to approve the item.
