Council authorizes amendment to Tar River Transit lease at Helen B. Gay Train Station

The Rocky Mount City Council approved a resolution authorizing a first amendment to the lease with Tar River Transit for office space at the Helen B. Gay Train Station.

The resolution, read into the record by the mayor, recited that the original lease commenced in January 2023 with annual rent of $21,504 payable in monthly installments and that the proposed amendment adds three suites for a revised annual rent of $24,669. The resolution directs the city manager to execute the amendment in substantial form as attached to the resolution.

Councilman Harris moved to approve the amendment and the motion carried by voice vote. The city noted that published notice was not required under the cited North Carolina statute for transfers between governmental units.

The council also added a related resolution to the agenda earlier in the meeting and approved it before adjourning for a closed session.
