Board authorizes notice to proceed for Northside interceptor project to Atlas Excavating at about $23.09 million

The Kokomo Board of Public Works and Safety voted Jan. 14 to give an official notice to proceed for the Northside interceptor project to Atlas Excavating after bonds were sold and funding secured.

Director of Engineering John Pike told the Board the department had received three bids for the project and that Atlas Excavating submitted the lowest responsive bid, reported in the meeting at approximately $23,093,100. Pike said the Board had previously given an administrative award pending bond sale; with bonds now sold and funding in place, staff requested a formal notice to proceed.

A Board member moved to provide notice to proceed to Atlas Excavating and the Board voted unanimously to carry the motion.

Bidders recorded in the staff report included Outlets Escaping Inc. (reported as $24,093,100) and Clery Construction Inc. (reported as $45,391,790). The Board did not debate funding sources at length during the item; staff stated funding was secured following bond sale.
