Sharonville proclaims 'John Karlberg Day'; police honored for veterans outreach

Council issued a formal proclamation recognizing John Karlberg’s 17 years of service on the Sharonville Civil Service Commission and proclaimed Jan. 13, 2026, as John Karlberg Day in the city of Sharonville. The proclamation cited Karlberg’s role ensuring fairness in civil-service testing and his community involvement, including leadership in youth baseball and homeowners association service.

Following the proclamation, Officer Altman described a veterans outreach program run by the Sharonville Police Department, noting the department’s assistance to service members and their families during deployments and returns. Bob Miller, a representative of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), presented the department with the ESGR 'Above and Beyond Award' and said the recognition honors organizations that provide notable support to Guard and Reserve members.

Chief Nesbitt accepted the award on behalf of the Sharonville Police Department; photo opportunities followed. Councilmembers thanked retirees and staff for their service and recognized the department’s work on veteran support.

The meeting proceeded from ceremonial recognitions to legislative business after the award presentation.
