Board hears about state bills that could shift utility-district bonding oversight; member testified at State House

Members of the Hamilton County Regional Utility District discussed state legislation affecting utility district bonding and noted that one of their representatives testified at the State House.

Unidentified Speaker 2 said board member 'Marty' was at the State House to testify on what was described in discussion as bills "20 and 7" concerning utility districts. Unidentified Speaker 1 said the bills are "trying to change the structure of the ... bonding process" and added, "We're trying to make the county fiscal body be the one that signs off on." The board observed that a solution aimed at a single problem can have broad consequences across many utility districts.

Board members did not take formal action on the legislation during the meeting; the discussion was recorded as information sharing and the board said it would continue to monitor developments. No public comments were made during the meeting.

The attorney noted other ongoing work for the district, including finalizing a Skylake development agreement with Wessler and Chris Junock to return for consideration at a future meeting.
