Board discusses attendance policy, possible resignations to restore quorum and urges repairs at county museum

S5 (Beth) led a discussion of the board's attendance language, reminding members that missing three consecutive meetings could make a member subject to removal and that a 10-member board requires six members for quorum. Staff said absenteeism had caused a past October meeting failure to reach quorum and encouraged outreach to members with poor attendance.

Members discussed two under-attending appointees, Brandy and Randy. S5 said she left voicemails for Randy and had no response; the options discussed were voluntary resignation or a board recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners for removal. The board agreed to attempt outreach and deferred formal action to a future meeting if outreach failed.

Separately, S4 raised repeated maintenance concerns about the county museum and the Clay County Archives Building (the former jail), reporting roof leaks and water intrusion that have damaged paper holdings. Members urged the collection of photographic evidence and requested S5 forward facility details to the county facilities department; several members suggested persistent advocacy to county commissioners to secure permanent repairs rather than repeated temporary fixes.
