Board authorizes delegate to vote on selected WASB resolutions at conference

The School District of Milton board authorized its WOSB (WASB) delegate, Ed Snows, to vote yes on a set of recommended legislative resolutions at the WASB delegate assembly.

The governance committee had reviewed the legislative resolutions and recommended voting yes on resolutions 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 12 but suggested withholding a recommendation on resolution 8 pending more information. Rekha moved to authorize Ed Snows to cast the district's votes for the recommended set; Tracy seconded the motion. The board approved the authorization by voice vote.

Board members and administrators discussed that delegate action at the assembly can be fluid because amendments are often offered on the floor. Rick asked the board to empower Ed to make judgment calls and to report back: "There's gonna be amendments on all of these ... so, Ed, we I trust you to make the right choice," he said. Ed said he would document whether a resolution passed and how its language changed and report that back in a memo to the board.

The board recorded the motion for the record and thanked Ed for representing the district at the delegate assembly.
