BPAC approves submission of League of American Bicyclists Community Sparks grant

BPAC voted to direct staff to submit an application for a $2,000 League of American Bicyclists Community Sparks grant, aimed at projects that improve equity and accessibility in bicycling.

Staff summarized the application and noted the League’s selection criteria emphasize equity, accessibility and diverse partnerships. Committee members recommended partner organizations that reflect the equity focus, including Chainbreaker Collective and Seniors on Bikes; staff said partner organizations will receive a copy of the application and must be notified.

The committee moved and carried a motion to submit the application before the Jan. 27 deadline. Members offered minor edits to the draft and asked staff to incorporate suggested wording changes and to verify cited city data sources before submission.

Next steps: staff will finalize edits, confirm listed partners and file the application by the League’s deadline.
