Commission approves detective, lieutenant and sergeant promotion lists; two fire promotions approved in closed session

The Police and Fire Commission approved multiple promotion lists and payments during its Jan. 8 meeting and reported closed-session personnel promotions in open session.

The commission approved the detective promotion list as presented in the meeting package (names read by the chair included Inspector Patton, Cameron Allen, Eric Helby, Michaela Henning, Dustin Herlash and Arturo Santos Martinez) and approved the lieutenant promotion list (Gerald Goran and Cody Olsen). The commission also approved the police sergeant promotion list; the chair read the names listed in alphabetical order as Cameron Worsma, Taylor Carlson, Mikayla Henning, Dan Skynador and Matt Woods. Each of those lists was approved by motion and voice vote with no recorded roll-call tallies in the public record.

The meeting moved into closed session under Wisconsin Statutes § 19.85 to consider personnel matters. Returning to open session, the chair reported the commission unanimously approved the promotion of Eric Jeltma to assistant fire chief and Luke Semrau to battalion chief and congratulated both. The chair also reported the commission approved police department promotions discussed in closed session and summarized procedural outcomes (some candidates withdrew from consideration, some were not continued in the process, and others remained in the hiring process).

The commission also approved the payment of routine monthly bills, which included a psych exam bill and medical physicals for police candidates.

The meeting adjourned after the votes were approved and the chair called for adjournment.
