Legislative counsel: letters sent on reports repeal project; committee to follow up

Tucker Anderson, legislative counsel, told the Government Operations & Military Affairs committee on Friday that letters and surveys related to a reports repeal project have been distributed to committees of jurisdiction, with several panels still to receive them.

"There are 4 or 5 committees remaining," Anderson said, adding that the remaining committees would receive their letters and surveys that day. He said that, to his knowledge, none of the questionnaires had been returned to counsel unless they were sent directly to the committee staff. "There are 2 full weeks until the expiration of the deadline that you set out in the letter," he said.

An unidentified committee member thanked Anderson for the update and said the committee would follow up directly. "I guess I'll take it upon myself to start lightly poking chairs to make sure it's on their radar," the member said, describing informal outreach as the first step in follow-up.

Committee members offered no questions during the brief status report. The panel recessed and said it would return for a discussion on a scheduled joint hearing.

The update did not provide the exact deadline date or identify which committees remained; Anderson described the number of remaining committees as "4 or 5" and the deadline as "2 full weeks" from Jan. 9.
