Hilton Head convenes 21-member task force to update land-management ordinance

The Town of Hilton Head Island has convened a 21-member Land Management Ordinance (LMO) Task Force to lead a comprehensive review and update of the town’s land use and development regulations. The task force’s first meeting was held Jan. 6, the county news bulletin reported.

"The LMO Task Force is composed of 21 members and will guide the town through a comprehensive review and update of proposed land use and development regulations," Kyla Williams said. The Hilton Head Town Council identified the LMO update as a priority in the town’s 2026–2028 strategic action plan.

The task force is anticipated to recommend a proposed ordinance to the planning commission and town council in summer 2026, the bulletin said.
