The board approved a request to operate a limited auto-mechanic garage at 3126 Genesee, subject to any concerns from the building department.
Applicant Odell Martin told the board he represents In and Out Collision and asked to use garage space at 3126 Genesee for "in and out" mechanical work. Martin said, "We will not be doing no type of, engine lifting, none of that. Just real quick in and outs such as, tune ups, brake jobs, tire rotations," and emphasized there would be no painting or collision work at that location because collision work is handled at his 4094 Union Road shop.
Board members asked about parking, proximity to neighboring residences and whether the building inspector had raised concerns. Martin said he spoke with building inspector John Locke, who "didn't have no really concerns," according to the applicant's account, and that rezoning or a change of use could be requested if necessary. The applicant also said he is "in the process" of acquiring the residence from owner Ronald Bress and expects to provide paperwork.
Board member (S1) moved to approve the application conditioned on resolution of any issues raised by the building department; Board member (S2) seconded. The board recorded affirmative votes and approved the request pending any building-department conditions. The applicant thanked the board; staff will follow up on any required building-department approvals and ownership documentation.
