Fire Chief Lawson updated the Mt. Healthy City Council on department activity and recent grant awards.
"In front of you, you should have the 2025 EMS report and the end-of-year fire report," Chief Lawson said, reporting "a total of 2,112 EMS calls" and "412 fire calls," and describing the past year as busy for the department.
Chief Lawson listed several grant awards received during the year: $40,000 from the Fraternal Order of Eagles, $7,000 from the American Legion, $23,000 from the Marks Grant program, $2,200 from Duke, and a $40 patient donation. He summarized these as totaling $73,704 as recorded in the meeting transcript.
He also stated that the department received a FEMA assistance grant; the transcript references the amount as "$989,560" though the phrasing in the audio was unclear. That figure should be confirmed with the department’s grant records. Chief Lawson said the new fire truck purchase funded by assistance will be delivered in July 2027.
On inspections, Chief Lawson reported completing 79 inspections last year and said the department plans to increase that number as additional fire inspectors come on board.
Council had no ordinances or resolutions tied to the fire report during this session.
