Allen Ferguson, DeKalb County's chief housing officer, announced a four-day homeownership event the county is hosting with the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) from Jan. 22 through Jan. 25 at South DeKalb Mall.
Ferguson said the event will run daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. inside the former JCPenney and is aimed at residents of DeKalb County who have considered homeownership out of reach. "This is a real opportunity to buy a home with no down payment, no closing costs, no credit score requirement, and access to below market interest rates," he said.
The announcement described the event as an opportunity for attendees to "learn, get prepared, and take real steps towards owning a home." Officials said the program is a partnership between DeKalb County and NACA and is targeted to county residents; specific eligibility rules, program limits and whether funds or subsidies are limited were not specified in the announcement.
Organizers encouraged interested residents to attend any of the four days during the stated hours to begin the homebuying process. "We look forward to seeing you," Ferguson said.
No formal vote, ordinance or funding action was recorded during the announcement; the transcript contains a public invitation and program description rather than a decision or binding county action.
