Tahlequah survey: 186 responses so far; committee to add clearer weighting and cost figures

The city survey committee said it has received 186 responses to its bond-priority survey and will refine how results are presented before the final round.

Unidentified Speaker 2, a committee member, told the group that "so far, we've had a 186 people take the survey" and that responses were "very equal" across project options. The committee highlighted two result formats: a straight count of votes and a weighted ranking that gives greater weight to top-ranked choices.

The committee chair drew attention to an early headline figure from the survey: "82% of the people that voted said they'd be in favor of converting a piece of this to a permanent sales tax," an outcome members said warrants clearer explanation on future materials.

Members repeatedly asked for transparency about the survey's weighting mechanics. Unidentified Speaker 6 said the committee needs to "dive into actually how it's being weighted so we know how it just mechanically is working," and the committee agreed the next survey will show project-level projected costs, photos, and explicit notes about weighting and contingencies.

Unidentified Speaker 3 volunteered to distribute final survey results to committee members in advance of the next meeting if timing allows.

The next survey will remain open through the end of the month; the committee expects to review final results at its next meeting on Feb. 6.
