County planning staff says consolidated zoning board could be appointed in March after February public hearing

Sean Pendley, county planning staff, told the West Consolidated Zoning Board on Jan. 7 that the county is preparing to present recommendations on consolidating the East and West zoning boards to the Board of County Commissioners. He said staff will brief the commissioners’ Committee on Jan. 15 and forward comments collected from both zoning boards.

Pendley said the County Commissioners may hold a public hearing on the consolidation in February and that, if the commission favors consolidation, appointments to a single consolidated zoning board could be effective in March. He did not provide exact language for the proposed consolidated board or a final schedule for appointments.

The update also noted related calendar items: the planning staff will present draft short‑term rental regulations to the Planning Commission on Jan. 27 and that a final plat the zoning board recommended in December (20511 Flum Road) is scheduled for the County Commissioners’ meeting the next morning.

The board did not take formal action on consolidation at this meeting; Pendley said staff will await direction from the Board of County Commissioners before making changes to the zoning‑board structure.
