Committee endorses commemorative street name for Brian Craig Kelly in Bayview Hunters Point

The Land Use and Transportation Committee voted unanimously on Dec. 8 to recommend that the full San Francisco Board of Supervisors approve a commemorative street-name designation for a portion of Hollister Avenue in Bayview Hunters Point.

Supervisor Shamone Walton, the bill’s sponsor, told the committee the designation is “a long time coming” and that the family supported placing the commemorative name on the street where Brian Craig Kelly grew up. The clerk described the measure as adding “Brian Craig Kelly Way to Hollister Avenue between Jennings Street and Ingle Street” to honor Kelly and enshrine his legacy in the community.

There were no public speakers on the item. Chair Mirna Melgaard moved to send the resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation and the committee recorded three ayes. The committee clerk said the item is expected to appear on the Board’s agenda on Dec. 16, 2025, unless otherwise noted.

The committee’s action is a committee report recommendation; final approval requires a vote of the full Board of Supervisors.
