Rules Committee recommends approval of Maisha Hakimi to Successor Agency Commission

The San Francisco County Rules Committee on Dec. unanimously recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve Maisha Hakimi's nomination to the Successor Agency Commission for a term ending Nov. 3, 2028.

Clerk Victor Young opened Item 2 as a motion to approve or reject the mayor's nomination of Maisha Hakimi. Hakimi spoke to the committee, thanked supervisors for consideration and said she had reviewed the commission's responsibilities and upcoming projects. "I'm grateful for the mayor's nomination and... I look forward to serving this city and the people of the city," she said, and described her background as an organizer for about 30 years representing BIPOC, queer and immigrant communities and as a corporate attorney who has represented small and large businesses nationally.

President Mandelmann praised Hakimi's work in the Castro and on the LGBTQ cultural district and said the committee was "happy to support her." After calling for public comment and hearing none, Chair Supervisor Shamone Walton moved to forward the nomination to the Board with a recommendation to approve, amending the clerk's earlier phrasing to replace "rejecting" with "approving." Vice Chair Cheryl, President Mandelmann and Chair Walton each voted aye; the motion passed without objection.

The clerk noted that items acted on that day are expected to appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda of Dec. 16, 2025. The nomination will proceed to the Board for final confirmation.
