New county executive outlines early priorities, announces recorder of deeds promotion and Jan. 13 appointments press conference

Tara Sierinski, speaking as Northampton County's county executive, gave her first report to council on Jan. 8 and outlined initial actions and near-term outreach.

Sierinski said she has selected appointments that will be announced at a press conference tentatively scheduled for Jan. 13. She told council she intends to promote Dorothy Edelman, who has served as interim recorder of deeds and with the county since 2009, to the recorder-of-deeds position and that she has provided Edelman notice of the proposed promotion.

Sierinski said her transition team and office distributed more than 80 surveys to agency leaders and stakeholders, received 86 responses, and planned a summit at Northampton Community College for the next day to collect broader input on priorities such as housing, environment, economic development and emergency management.

Council asked no substantive questions at the close of the report. Sierinski said updates on projects including the county garage will be provided at the next council meeting.
