School committee approves March New York City field trip for juniors and seniors

The Walpole School Committee voted unanimously to approve a one-day out-of-state field trip to New York City for juniors and seniors on March 13, 2026.

Advisers presented the request and said the trip would visit museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney. "Round trip is $88, as of now," an adviser said when describing travel costs, and presenters said they expected an early-morning departure with a late-evening return. They estimated the group would include about 30 students and named two staff chaperones; additional parent chaperones were expected to volunteer and be reimbursed for their cost.

Committee member Ms. Villizio moved to approve the request; Mr. Breen seconded. The committee recorded a vote of 6–0–0 in favor.

The advisers said they had not finalized museum tour fees and would return with any updated cost details; at the time of the request the train fare and student count were presented as estimates. Eligibility was described in the presentation as juniors and seniors who meet participation expectations for the program presented by the advisers.
