The Hinsdale Board of Trustees on Jan. 6 approved several routine and development items during its meeting, including a large accounts payable payment, purchase of a replacement municipal truck, zoning approvals for a medical facility renovation and a playground update, and advanced a retail‑service special use permit to a forthcoming meeting.
Trustee Burns moved to approve accounts payable totaling $1,481,692.54 for the period Dec. 10, 2025 through Jan. 6, 2026; the motion was seconded and adopted unanimously by roll call.
Under the consent agenda, staff presented a purchase of a Ford F‑550 dump truck with plow and salt spreader quoted at roughly $135,000 to replace a 2017 vehicle. The 2026 budget had allocated $128,000; staff explained post‑quotation price increases accounted for the variance and said the village expects to cover the overage using available funds and proceeds from auctioning older vehicles, estimated at $7,000–$9,000.
Zoning and development business included three items:
- A special use permit request for Sage Wellness Sanctuary at 777 North York Road (Gateway Square) was presented by owner Bianca Casalbono, who said the business will offer yoga, meditation, natural spa treatments and retail. Plan Commission recommended approval; the board expects a follow‑up meeting to finalize a vote after staff review of any remaining details.
- On second read the board approved an ordinance allowing exterior appearance and site plan changes at 550 West Ogden for an ambulatory surgical center (Ogden ASC Building, LLC). Staff noted the project will include a one‑and‑a‑half‑story ambulatory surgical center with six operating rooms, lower‑level parking, reduced after‑hours lighting, landscaping changes and fewer daily patients compared with the prior use; Plan Commission and staff recommended approval.
- The board also approved a major adjustment to the planned development for renovation of the playground at Saint Isaac Jogues Catholic Church and School (306 West 4th Street / 427 South Clay Street), including a waiver for a 25‑foot rear yard setback similar to the prior playground configuration; adjacent homeowners provided letters of support.
Finally, the board voted to adjourn into closed session under statutory provisions for pending litigation and the purchase or lease of real property and did not plan to reconvene in open session.
Next steps: Sage Wellness Sanctuary will return in two weeks for a follow‑up vote if staff has no objections; community development staff will implement landscaping and lighting adjustments for the Ogden project per Plan Commission recommendations and coordinate playground installation with the parish and school.
