Arapahoe Douglas Works told a Douglas County partners meeting that it received a three‑year federal Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant to provide employment and supportive services to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
"In July, we were awarded the homeless veteran reintegration program grant, which is a federal grant," Sasha Larson, workforce programs manager at Arapahoe Douglas Works, said. The grant will fund individualized veteran‑focused employment plans, ongoing case management, job search and placement, occupational training in in‑demand industries, work‑based learning (apprenticeships and on‑the‑job training), and job retention follow‑up.
Larson explained eligibility: veterans as defined by federal law (service in any branch with non‑dishonorable discharge), those experiencing homelessness (including living in vehicles, transitional housing or motels), and those at risk of homelessness (eviction notices, public‑assistance recipients such as TANF/SNAP). The program can also serve veterans connected to partner organizations and those transitioning from incarceration if recently released or expected to be released within 18 months.
Supportive services under the grant can include rental assistance, transportation and work‑readiness tools. Larson said referrals may be made via the Arapahoe Douglas Works main line, the agency info inbox or an online referral form on 80works.org and that staff can assist with Colorado registration when needed.
County partners welcomed the program as part of broader 2026 priorities that emphasize coordinating housing, employment and clinical supports for vulnerable residents.
