Oxnard mayor nominates three residents to city advisory commissions

Acting City Clerk Lulie Lopez told the council that Mayor MacArthur is recommending three appointments to Oxnard City advisory commissions, naming Alejandro Moises Castro to the Community Relations Commission, Jennifer Andrea Alvarez to the Cultural Arts Commission and Lupe Cervin Reyes to represent District 4 on the Senior Services Commission.

City staff outlined the role and meeting schedules for each commission. The Cultural Arts Commission advises the council on cultural arts and public art, meets the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers and is composed of seven city residents age 18 or older with special knowledge or interest in the arts. The Senior Services Commission advises the council on senior needs, meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Jocelyn Lawn Bowls Clubhouse and is composed of seven city residents aged 50 and older.

Lopez said the nominations were brought forward for council consideration and that staff will return on a rolling basis with additional nominations to fill remaining vacancies on the city's commissions, committees and boards.
