The Ravena volunteer fire department reported a busy season as the board met Jan. 6, citing a year‑end total of 210 calls in 2025 and a recent flurry of incidents between Nov. 1 and the New Year.
"We had 32 calls between November 1 and the New Year," Speaker 2 said, describing incidents that included kitchen, electrical and chimney fires, a possible structure fire, motor vehicle incidents and a carbon monoxide incident at the high school. Speaker 5 clarified the department’s final tally for 2025: "the final total for 2,025 was 210 calls."
The department also highlighted a newly created cadet program for ages 12 to 16 that has met several times for beginner training and Saturday drills. Speakers said the program aims to strengthen recruitment, retention and mutual‑aid relationships, and that the department has been working with the Ravena rescue squad to respond jointly to certain EMS calls.
Officials noted that much of a recent firehouse kitchen remodel was completed in‑house and that the department will host the Albany County dinner in September. Volunteers and staff were praised by board members for their response efforts and community event support.
The board recorded these agency updates as informational; no formal action was taken in the meeting minutes to change fire department operations.
