Rowan County commissioners on Jan. 5 approved a slate of board and advisory appointments and accepted a resignation affecting the Housing Authority.
The board approved Jim Green and the chair as the county's appointees to the Cabarrus-Rowan MPO transportation advisory committee and confirmed Ed Muir and Shane to TCC technical seats. Commissioners accepted the resignation of Gary Yelton from the Housing Authority (effective Nov. 25) and approved removals and reassignments on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC), including removing Ryan Bravo and Jocelyn Williams from specified seats and appointing Taylor Clawson to a mental-health seat.
The board also approved reappointments and new members for volunteer fire departments, including Rodney Airy and Jeffrey Mark Behringer to Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and multiple appointments to Poletown and South Salisbury volunteer fire departments; Carling Johnson was noted to serve ex officio after becoming chair of the Chamber of Commerce.
All appointment and removal motions were moved, seconded, and approved by voice votes during the meeting. The board made these changes as part of routine governance updates and to ensure representation across advisory and public-safety bodies.
Next steps include updating official rosters and sending formal notifications to the affected organizations.
