Stonecrest council swears in three newly elected members

Tara Graves, Alicia Washington and Carmisha Washington Smith were sworn in as members of the Stonecrest City Council during a special call meeting on Jan. 2, Mayor Jasmine Cobble announced at the start of the session.

The council administered the oath of office for each newly elected member, who pledged to support the U.S. and Georgia constitutions and uphold the City of Stonecrest charter, ordinances and regulations. A judge or official administering the oaths led each oath and then confirmed completion.

The swearing-in concluded the ceremonial portion of the agenda and the council moved directly into business matters, including a resolution designating authorized signatories on the city’s Citibank accounts and other procedural votes. The council recorded no public comment during the installation item.

The oaths followed procedural roll call that established a quorum before the ceremony. The meeting then proceeded to consideration of a resolution to ensure operational continuity for city banking.
