West Covina recognizes West Covina Fire Department’s 75 years of service

The West Covina City Council on Jan. 6 recognized the West Covina Fire Department’s 75th anniversary. Acting Chief Brown summarized the department’s history from its 1951 founding with a single station and volunteers to its current operation of five stations serving about 110,000 residents and providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue and mutual-aid support.

"This year marks a proud milestone for the West Covina Fire Department as we celebrate 75 years of dedicated service to the community," Acting Chief Brown said, describing the commemorative badge and its symbolism. The badge honors decades of service and was shown at the dais; Assistant Chief Rudriff’s badge (ID 173) was highlighted as the example pictured.

Mayor Lopez Villarro thanked the department and invited a group photo in front of the commemorative badge. The council’s recognition was ceremonial and did not include any formal action beyond appreciation and acknowledgement.
