Committee recommends updated community pharmacy self-assessment form, requests formatting and reference clarifications

Board staff presented a revised community pharmacy/hospital outpatient self-assessment form designed to centralize and standardize the self-assessment process as required by AB1503 and new BPC section 4040.6.

The updated form reorganizes content by pharmacy law and regulation category and includes hyperlinks to the statute and regulation text. Committee members praised the clarity and links (Nicole Thiebaud, Renee Barker) and suggested several format and content edits: add a short table of contents, place instructions and an acronym/reference table at the front, add version-control dates, reconsider whether PIC initials and dates must appear on every page, and consider columns and ordering to make the form easier to navigate (SEG 1420-1460, SEG 1507-1511, SEG 1550-1560).

Public commenters raised concerns about presumed requirements in some draft questions (John Gray noted several items that might imply obligations not found in the underlying law and recommended editing question text) and stakeholder representation in form development (Andre Peters urged broader stakeholder engagement beyond committee attendance) (SEG 1810-1861; SEG 1878-1899).

Renee Barker moved to recommend approval of the updated self-assessment form and to refer it to the full board for approval; the motion was seconded and passed by unanimous roll-call vote (SEG 1768-1776; SEG 2080-2093). Staff and counsel agreed to track version dates and to consider members' formatting and reference-table suggestions before the full-board meeting.

What's next: staff will finalize the form layout and reference table placement, add version-control dates, and present the revised form to the full board for approval.
