Mineola board clears permits for March events; Deputy Mayor welcomes new Pivot Gym and tax workshop

The Mineola Board of Trustees approved permits for two March events and heard community announcements about a new gym and a tax workshop at the library.

The board authorized a Saint Patrick’s Day parade for the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens Inc. on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 1 p.m. and separately approved a Chamber‑organized downtown block party on March 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 2nd Street between Mineola Boulevard and Main Street; both motions were approved by voice vote.

Deputy Mayor Sartore congratulated Pivot Gym on its grand opening near Jericho and White Road and encouraged residents to use local businesses during the slow winter months. He also announced a Town of North Hempstead tax workshop at the Mineola Memorial Library the next day at 11 a.m. to help residents read assessments and file grievances.

Trustee Casado and others also highlighted upcoming community events including a junior pasta dinner on March 8 and holiday volunteer activities by the fire department. The board noted these events are supplemental to other community programming.
