Council approves $97,389 budget amendment and awards Settlers Park pump contract

The Meridian City Council on Jan. 6 approved a fiscal year 2026 budget amendment in the amount of $97,389 to fund irrigation pump upgrades at Settlers Park, a component of the park expansion that will serve an additional 11 acres.

City staff explained finance advised splitting the cost between impact fees and the general fund because the work replaces pumps serving both existing and new acreage. Councilman Malak moved to approve the budget amendment; roll-call votes were recorded and the motion carried by unanimous ayes.

Council then considered a public works construction contract for the Settlers Park Pumping Station and staff recommended awarding the work to low bidder Precision Pumping Systems for an amount not to exceed $185,183. Council moved and approved the contract by voice vote.

The approvals authorize staff to proceed with the pump upgrades and construction contract; staff indicated the work supports the community center portion of the larger Settlers Park expansion project.
