Carson approves contract to install outdoor fitness equipment at six parks using Proposition A funds

The Carson City Council voted to amend the fiscal year 2025–26 budget and award a public works contract to Dave Vang Associates Inc. for outdoor fitness equipment at Anderson Park, Kalis Park, Dolphin Park, Dominguez Park, Hemingway Park and Mills Park, using funds provided by Los Angeles County Proposition A maintenance and servicing allocations.

Staff described the purchase and installation plan and confirmed financing comes from Proposition A maintenance allocations. "This is the recommended action, for your approval," staff said when introducing the item. Mayor Pro Tem Sidrick Hicks and other councilmembers emphasized the need to provide renderings so residents can see the proposed installations. Staff replied that Mills Park is included as part of phase 2 and that renderings and further park-specific details will be provided.

Councilmember Hicks moved staff’s recommendation; the motion was seconded and carried. The contract award was approved and staff will distribute renderings and schedule details to the council and public.
