Warren County supervisors elect Kevin Garrity chairman at 2026 organizational meeting

The Warren County Board of Supervisors elected Lawrenceburg Supervisor Kevin Garrity chairman during its 2026 organizational meeting, holding a roll-call vote on the single nomination and installing Garrity as chair at the start of the board’s term.

Garrity accepted the post and thanked colleagues for their support, welcoming newly sworn supervisors and saying the board faces “a big financial challenge” in 2026. The board then moved through routine organizational items: adoption of the board rules and the conversion of previously distributed floor resolutions into numbered resolutions for formal consideration.

Votes on the opening resolutions were taken by roll call. Resolution adopting the rules passed with a recorded tally; other early resolutions reclassified funds and amended the 2026 Warren County budget to account for losses tied to the fraud matter discussed later in the meeting.

Supervisor Beatty registered a dissent on the chair vote and said he preferred another candidate, but with no other nominations the vote proceeded on the single nominee. Garrity immediately outlined initial staffing decisions including an appointment to serve as budget officer for 2026.

The meeting then shifted to operational and oversight matters, including a lengthy briefing on an ongoing criminal investigation and subsequent board actions. The board adjourned after completing business and authorizing follow-up reviews.
