The Fluvanna County Planning Commission convened its organizational meeting Jan. 6 and completed routine organizational business, including permitting a commissioner to participate remotely, electing officers and adopting a 2026 meeting schedule.
Commissioners voted to allow Commissioner Bob Tilton to participate by phone from Liberia after a motion and second; the presiding officer recorded the motion as carried. The commission then nominated and re-elected Mr. Biddle as chair and elected Mr. Lager Messina as vice chair.
The commission adopted an organizational resolution designating the Morris Room in the County Administration Building as the regular meeting place and setting regular meetings for the Tuesday after the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The resolution and the annual meeting schedule were adopted by voice vote.
The full list of approved meeting dates includes Jan. 13, Feb. 10, Mar. 10, Apr. 7, May 12, June 9, July 7, Aug. 11, Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. Commissioners said the location could change if an item attracts a larger-than-expected crowd and noted the Jan. 13 meeting will be held at the Currysbrook Performing Arts Center due to anticipated attendance.
No substantive policy votes were taken in this portion of the meeting; the actions were procedural and organizational.
