Gadsden council ratifies minutes and payments, accepts small kayak-dock donation

The Gadsden City Council on Dec. 30 approved meeting minutes, ratified routine payments, and adopted a resolution to accept a $278.63 donation from the Neely Henry Lake Association to offset the construction cost of a Jetport Kayak Dock. The city will assume ownership and liability for the dock once installed.

The chair moved and the council carried votes by voice for approval of minutes from Dec. 16 and the Dec. 19 special meeting, and for ratification of accounts covering two weekly payment periods. The council then considered a resolution to accept a grant‑related donation (the Neely Henry Lake Association had received an Alabama Scenic River Trail grant) to offset a kayak-launch pier; a council member asked for clarification on the device name "Jetport Kayak Dock with wings." The motion to adopt the resolution passed by voice vote.

No new business was filed. The council heard a citizen presentation on digital accessibility and held several district‑level announcements, including lists of warming stations and a Jan. 10 free dumpster day. The meeting adjourned and council members wished residents a safe New Year.
