KO Consulting says it submitted $840,000 in grant requests; commissioners authorize grant execution and signatures

KO Consulting senior consultant Ty Bady told the commissioners that in the firm’s first 4.5 months working with Trumbull County it had submitted seven grant requests totaling just over $840,000, targeting needs including the dog warden, coroner, sheriff, 911 and library steps. Bady said the firm spent its first 45 days building relationships, establishing grant calendars and preparing submissions and that it plans to continue submissions into the first quarter of 2026.

Following the presentation, the board approved a motion authorizing President Tony Bernard to execute documents necessary for grant applications and administration, approved Ohio Department of Development security role-assignment forms for online grants management, and approved authorized signature cards for CDBG drawdowns naming Anthony Bernard, Rick Hernandez, Denny Malloy, Julie Green, Nicholas Coggins and Emily Moran. Commissioners praised county staff for coordinating with KO Consulting and said they plan to seek larger grants in 2026.

Bady thanked county staff (naming Julie, Shara and Lisa) and described outreach to federal officials during the government shutdown as a challenge the firm navigated on the county’s behalf. He said the grants sought were intended to address capital and service needs across public safety and county facilities; monetary awards were not reported on the record.
