Board of Equalization approves motor-vehicle tax exemptions for several nonprofits

The Lancaster County Board of Equalization on Jan. 6 opened a public hearing on motor-vehicle tax exemption applications for multiple nonprofit entities and, after receiving no public testimony, approved the exemptions.

Clerk read the list of applicants that appeared in the transcript: Doane University; Goodwill Industries; Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital; Trinity Lutheran Church and School; People’s City Mission; Alon Chapel SDA Church; The Salvation Army; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; Union College (doing business as Union Adventist University); an entry listed in the transcript as "Saesostra Strine"; and Nebraska Wesleyan University. The board opened the hearing, received no comments and closed it. The BOE then approved the exemption applications by unanimous roll call.
