Commission approves board appointments and standard consent items; citizen raises campground fee concerns

The Grand Forks County Commission approved routine consent items and appointments, including two reappointments to the Human Services board and a county lead-board appointment.

During public comment, Robert Drees provided information on two county campgrounds and urged modest fee increases to keep facilities solvent. He said Larimore Dam sees an estimated 32,000 visitors on a weekend and that the Fordville campground ran a deficit after major repairs.

The director of the Grand Forks County Human Service Zone requested reappointment of Kayla Hochstetler and Jonelle Bauchi to three-year terms; the board moved, seconded and approved the reappointments unanimously. A separate county board appointment (lead board) was also approved by voice vote.

The chair also noted approval of other consent agenda items including bills, employee status changes and bank depositories; one packet page (page 23 related to the YAC position) was pulled for separate discussion.
