Commission hears punch-list update on sheriff's office; members debate lease timeline and buyout option

Commissioners pressed for a hard deadline to complete outstanding work and expressed reluctance to continue leasing long term. One commissioner said leasing indefinitely would be a "colossal waste of money" and urged planning for a buyout. Staff noted the contractor offered an early buyout option at five years and recommended giving the facility at least one to two seasons of operation to determine long-term viability before committing to purchase.
