Board of Supervisors elects Don Harris chair, Reggie Williams vice chair and adopts 2026 calendar

Don Harris was elected chair of the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors at the board’s Jan. 6 meeting, after a motion to nominate him was seconded and approved by roll call. Reggie Williams was elected vice chair in a subsequent, unanimous roll-call vote.

The county administrator opened the first meeting of the year and called for the election of officers before staff and supervisors conducted roll call. After the elections, the board reviewed and approved its proposed 2026 regular meeting schedule, noting one customary adjustment for Election Day to move that meeting to the following Wednesday.

The board also approved committee selections for 2026, indicating they largely mirror last year’s appointments. The chair said staff should send required letters confirming appointments to external bodies that require board authorization, including the Virginia Public School Authority and the juvenile detention commission.

The actions were procedural and carried by recorded roll-call votes. Don Harris accepted the chairmanship and Reggie Williams accepted the vice chair position.
