Marshall Public School District board elects officers at January organizational meeting

The Marshall Public School District board elected officers for the coming year and approved routine January business at its organizational meeting on Jan. 7.

Nominations opened for board chair and a nomination for Matt Coleman was put forward; after a second the board approved the nomination by voice vote. The board then confirmed Sarah Runtree as vice chair, Jeff as clerk and incumbent Sarah Brink as treasurer following separate motions and voice votes.

The meeting followed the district’s opening ritual: the chair called the meeting to order at 04:00 and Unidentified Speaker (S2) read the district mission: “The mission of the Marshall Public School District is to educate, support and prepare all learners for success.”

Board members did not record roll-call vote counts in the transcript; outcomes were announced by the chair as approved. Several nominations and name spellings in the transcript vary; the board asked that typographical errors be corrected in the minutes.

The board moved quickly through the organizational slate and turned to other standard January business after confirming officers.
