Pottawattamie County Board swears in Keith Jones and elects 2026 leadership

Keith Jones was sworn in as a Pottawattamie County supervisor as the board opened its organizational meeting, and the supervisors then elected their leadership for 2026.

District court judge Maggie Papres administered the oath to Keith Jones, who said, "I, Keith Jones, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the state of Iowa ... and that I will faithfully and impartially ... discharge all the duties of the office of supervisor." The board then proceeded with nominations for chair and temporary chair.

County Auditor Mary Anne (name rendered variably in the meeting record) was appointed temporary chair so the board could conduct elections. By roll call, the board elected Brian Shay (transcript variants include "Shay"/"Shea") as chair for 2026 and Supervisor Wickman as chair pro tem; the roll calls recorded unanimous affirmative votes by the supervisors present.

The newly constituted board immediately moved on to its agenda of annual housekeeping and appointments.

The supervisors did not discuss a further schedule for leadership changes; organizational votes and the swearing-in were completed before the meeting moved into resolutions, appointments and committee assignments later in the session.
