Wright County sets 2026 employee holidays, keeps mileage at 70¢

The Wright County Board of Supervisors on Monday approved the county's 2026 employee-holiday schedule, retained the employee mileage reimbursement rate at 70 cents per mile and authorized petty cash funds for several offices.

Board members debated whether to include Presidents' Day or Christmas Eve as a paid holiday before approving a schedule that lists Memorial Day; the observed July 4 holiday; Labor Day; Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after; Christmas Eve (Dec. 24); Christmas Day (Dec. 25); and New Year's Day (Jan. 1, 2027). The board clarified Presidents' Day will not be included as a paid county holiday under the approved schedule.

Supervisors also voted to keep the county reimbursement mileage rate at 70 cents per mile for 2026. The board authorized petty cash funds with the auditor at $20, the county engineer at $50, public health nurses at $55, the county sheriff at $200 and the county treasurer at $50.

Separately, the board set the drainage warrant interest rate at 6 percent.

The decisions were made by motions and voice votes during the board's organizational meeting; staff said the holiday schedule will allow employees to plan time off in advance and that the petty cash levels reflected operational needs.
