Kiski Area School District appoints Christina Meese to Region 2 seat

The Kiski Area School District Board of Directors appointed Christina Meese to the Region 2 vacancy on Dec. 8, 2025, after interviews with several candidates and a recorded tally of 7–1 in favor of Meese. The presiding officer then administered the oath of office.

Meese, who described herself to the board as a senior risk examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and an adjunct instructor, said she would bring financial and governance expertise to the board. "I would bring my financial expertise, my classroom experience, a research-based perspective, as well as a parent's voice," Meese said during her introduction.

The board heard two other candidate presentations in alphabetical order before voting: Joseph (Joe) Cali, a district graduate with 22 years in education who emphasized family and community engagement; and Alicia Vylak, a parent and CT technologist who said she would press for greater student voice and inclusion. Board members asked each candidate about priorities and time commitments before opening nominations and conducting the vote.

In addition to the appointment, the board approved routine business: acceptance of board reports and minutes, personnel items 10.1–10.14, finance item 11, legislation items 12.1–12.3 and bills 13.1–13.3. The appointment was followed immediately by an oath administered by Amy Obringer, notary public. The board closed with director comments recognizing student performers, promoting a district Toys for Cabs community event Dec. 12 (5–8 p.m.), and encouraging qualified community members to run for future board openings.
