Louisa County supervisors reelect Dwayne Adams as chair, adopt 2026 bylaws and schedule

The Louisa County Board of Supervisors reelected Dwayne Adams as chairman on Jan. 5, 2026, after a nomination and roll-call vote that produced unanimous support. Supervisor (speaker 2) nominated Adams, a second followed, and several members answered “Aye” during the roll call before Adams accepted the position.

The board then moved to appoint Mr. Barlow as vice chairman; that motion was seconded and approved without opposition. Members also approved the board’s 2026 meeting times and dates, noting one schedule change: the May meeting will meet on the first and fourth Mondays rather than the first and third. The board adopted updated bylaws that add a standing agenda item titled “supervisor comments,” which the board used for the first time during this meeting.

The board briefly convened in closed session earlier in the meeting to discuss personnel, prospective business recruitment in the Apple Grove District, and legal consultation as permitted by cited state code. After returning to open session, members certified compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act requirements.

The organizational actions and bylaws were presented, moved and seconded, and approved unanimously. The board’s chair opened the meeting with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance and then moved into the regular agenda.
